Free iPad Offer Giveaways - Are They Really Legit? The Truth May Surprise You

There have been many articles online recently about getting iPads for free and the claim that you can get one delivered to your home. Well folks, I've done my homework and I can tell you that the free iPad giveaway is actually the real deal.

In truth, these offers are designed simply to have you qualify by completing a few trial offers or by referring some family or friends who would also like to receive an iPad for free. The cool thing about these free trial offers is that most of them are services or products you use everyday. And getting to use free products is a great way to qualify for the free iPad offer.

How the Process Works
Companies are willing to satisfy the public's desire to own an iPad by spending their advertising dollars on these free iPad giveaways because they often get better results than they would using other advertising methods. The public gets their hands on the hottest gadget around and in return, companies gets consumers to try out their products at the same time. This type of advertising saves them millions; which more than pays for the iPad.

Free iPad Offer Giveaways - Are They Really Legit? The Truth May Surprise You

How to Spot Scammers
If you believe the free iPad giveaway is a scam, then you'll be missing out on what may be the hottest online offer available today. You may run across some phony offers online, but the best way to avoid them is to steer clear of any offer asking for bank information or for passwords to any of your accounts. The real free offers have you qualify by referring friends who would also be interested in receiving an iPad for free or by participating in some free trial offers. (See link below for my recommendation).

You see, the companies who offer free trials get paid a commission for every person who signs up whether they become a customer or not. They are so confident about how great their products are that they are willing to pay for your free iPad and take the chance that you'll become a customer of theirs after you try their products for free. Don't worry, if you are not interested after the trial period, you simply cancel before any charges are sent your way. So forget about the SOLD OUT sign you see hanging in the Apple store, you can still get in on the free iPad offer and have yours shipped directly to you.

How Technology Changed Music

Remember the days when your grandparents and friends grandparents gathered on their front porches to play the guitar and sing songs? And who can forget setting around the radio on Saturday nights listening to your favorite radio program? Those were the days before anyone had ever thought about televisions. And if you're not old enough to remember those days, then chances are you have heard dozens of stories, repeated several times (usually with added embellishments). Thankfully, technology has brought us a long way from those days.

Fast forward more than half a century and it's not hard to see exactly how technology has changed almost every single thing we do in life. After all, technology is responsible for some of the finer things in life. But how has technology changed music exactly?

Obviously, we aren't setting around "listening" to our favorite programs on the radio anymore. Most of us are using TiVo to record our favorite shows on the television so that we can watch them when we return from any number of Saturday night functions. Nor are we still using those old record players to listen to our favorite songs. Nope. Now we are using our MP3 players to carry the songs we love, everywhere we go.

How Technology Changed Music

However, all was not lost on those old record players. A few of the coolest sounds in music we're created using an old record playing. And who could forget those 8 track tapes? That's one walk down memory lane that's probably best left in the past. But one of my favorite teenage memories is trying to record my favorite song of the week onto a tape. But there were a few tricks to getting it just right. First, you had to make sure nothing was going to be recorded over. Then you had to put tape (my tape of choice was always masking tape) over the holes on the top corners of the tapes. And last but not least you had to spend a large amount of time setting in front of your radio, waiting for the exact moment that your song of the week started playing. That's also the exact same technique you had to use when trying to record a show on VHS, when VCR's first came out. Some of my best memories are of me and my beastie spending hours trying to get our favorite songs on tape. With the invention of CDs and the internet, your favorite tracks are just a click away. Remember when you had to purchase an entire album just to get one or two songs? Not anymore! Now all you have to do is pop in a blank CD or plug in your mp3 player and log onto your favorite website to purchase and download your favorite songs. Record it to CD or sync it to your mp3 player and you're good to go.

Technology has also brought concerts into a new generation. Now concerts are full light shows, complete with dozens of electronics and gadgets that will keep you dancing in your seats for hours. Amplifiers allow music to be piped to places far away from performers, allowing performers to play in some of the largest venues imaginable. On August 3, 1997, Garth Brooks performed a free, live concert in Central Park, in New York City. It grew crowds of 980,000 making it the largest concert to ever be held in central park and was the highest watched program on cable the entire year. Nothing like that would have been possible 50 years ago without the advances that technology has made in the music industry.

The list could go on and on but the bottom line is that technology has changed the way we write music, listen to music, perform music and even buy music. With everything at our fingertips today, it's hard to imagine how technology could possible change the world we live in any more than it already has. One thing is for sure though, the ride is far from over!

IPS Panel Technology

Are you aware of IPS Panel Technology? IPS (in-plane switching) technology is the best type of Panel Technology available today in the market for the manufacturing of LCD. When you buy a LCD monitor you never know what type of panel technology has been used in that monitor because the specification list does not mention the type of panel used in that LCD by the manufacturing company. It's not the price that matters while you buy the LCD monitor, you should know about the benefits of the panel type in that particular brand of LCD before you buy it.

The Thin Film Transistor (TFT) technology is widely used by the manufacturers of LCD monitors which improves the quality of the image. IPS is the nickname of this TFT technology. The specifications and details of IPS Panel Technology are considered best for high accuracy in colour, its quality image and wide viewing angles. Various types of panels are available in the market at present and the most advanced being IPS but at a price. But who would not want a wide angle view which is an absolute treat after TN matrices and not to mention the high colour reproduction. The IPS (In Plane Switching) was developed by one of the most famous companies of Japan in 1996 to solve the problems of TN-matrices. IPS is now-a-days widely used technology by the manufacturers of LCD monitors other than the technologies like TN Film, MVA and PVA. The other panels may be popular within some users though they are inexpensive. But if you compare the IPS panel technology with other panels, you will find the colour reproduction and viewing angle more advantageous. The response time is excellent which makes them ideal for fast gaming. Used in 22" monitor which is a size popular among consumers.

Being the excellent panel technology S-IPS/H-IPS panels are also expensive but they offer excellent picture reproduction and suitable for graphic work, web browsing and also other applications. You will find IPS technology used in panel sizes; in monitors, size ranging from 20 to 30 inches and in LCD monitors from17 to 52 inches. Up to 178 degree of wide viewing angle and reasonably okay response time are some of the few advantages it has to offer. The lower contrast level that IPS has does not give dark blacks as in the case of VA based panel technology and the pixel response is slower than TN panels but in the Super-IPS (S-IPS), the pixel response comes improved. The VA panel technology which has higher contrast levels gives darkest blacks and due to its disadvantage of colour shift, the details are lost when viewing the darker areas directly. The viewing angles are good but IPS is the best where the viewing angles are concerned.

IPS Panel Technology

Compared to TN panel, the reason for improved wide angle display and colour reproduction in IPS panel is because the molecules forms the helix shaped structure are used which makes the angle form freely while the pixel is left by the light. Initially the result of IPS display was poor in regards to contrast ratio, but with the development of advanced IPS panel technology, the same has improved remarkably. The only drawback of IPS panel technology is the response time is very slow with about 50ms.

Each manufacturer has given different names to the IPS technology like Super IPS (S-IPS), Advanced Super IPS (AS-IPS), IPS Provectus (IPS-Pro), Horizontal IPS (H-IPS) and Enhanced IPS (E-IPS). There are different types of advantage from each of these technologies. You need to decide what advantages you expect from the LCD monitor you buy by surfing through the net and collecting information for each popular brand, compare one with other and purchase one.

Cultural Values and Personal Ethics

Picture back to when you were in elementary school. It is a warm summer day, everyone is outside playing on the playground. Some children are playing on the swings, some on the monkey bars, while others decide they want to play kickball. After choosing captains, they start to pick who is going to be on their winning team. The captains quickly pick their friends, which goes by quick and then there are the few geeks or nerds left to pick from. Being not so popular growing up, I was one of the last few kids to be picked. It wasn't that I didn't know how to play kickball but I wasn't an outgoing person in my childhood.

But how does personal, organizational, and cultural values come into play with my position as a manager and recruiter for a banking call center? How can past experiences help or hinder future events?

Personal Values

Cultural Values and Personal Ethics

As the years went by I started to open up and began making friends in high school. I tried to be with the "in crowd" at the same time trying to be nice to the other not so popular students. Often times I felt a "gut" feeling about doing the right thing, other times I went with the popular decision; right or wrong. But as I was growing up, I started to realize that the right decision was always the best for me. It helped me become ethical not only in my personal life, but also in my professional life. It started to define my personal values and has guided me through tough decisions, popular or not, for which I haven't regretted.

Personal values are something I believe is learned. It goes back to the continual debate over nature versus nurture. I believe my values came from both. I grew up in a two-parent home with an older sibling. Both of my parents worked for a living and I learned most of my values from them. They brought me up to be respectful, hard working, and honest and most of all treat everyone the way you want to be treated. I learned not to take money for granted because we didn't have much. I wore hand-me-down clothing from friends and relatives. It taught me that money isn't what makes you happy but you need to like yourself for who you are and not what you own.
Now as a hiring manager for Compass Bank, I look for similar values in the potential employees. I ask them questions about their childhood, past experiences that changed their values and what are they looking for in their career. I also like to share my values of who I am and how I advanced my career. Finally I ask them what are some of the values they are looking for in an organization?

Organizational Values

Every organization, big or small has a set of organizational values. Some of these values are in line with our own values and clearly defined, other are vague.

In the paper Finding Talent: A Study of Contacts and Careers (Hines, 2003) shows four different methods used on hiring employees from entry-level to executive positions. Each of the individuals interviewed stated they don't follow their organizational values when interviewing and hiring employees. For entry-level positions, 80% use job postings in the newspaper or the Internet, career fairs and employee referrals. For middle to upper management, more then 50% say the hire based on word of mouth and not so much of past experience. And even others stated they try to hire previous employees they worked with before at other corporations. Are these personal values of these individuals? Does the organization stand behind these types of values? Or does cultural values come into play?

Cultural Values

Cultural values are a part of what makes up the world. The United States is called the "melting pot" since it became independent from the British in the 1700's. Many individuals came to America looking for a new beginning at the same time they brought their cultures or traditions with them. As we become more of a multi-cultural society some of the traditions that were predominate during the early periods of American history are not so clear today. In early years, Italians only married other Italians, Germans only married other Germans, so on and so forth. Now, cultural or traditions are not a factor.

I view cultural values as a great way to understand someone's values. It brings into light some of their personal values and the potential employees up bringing. I was raised in two different parts of the country. I was born in Western Pennsylvania and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. Both parts of the country have different cultural values. In Pennsylvania, cultural values were placed on tradition. My grandfather on my dad's side of the family was a skilled craftsman. He was very handy in his trade for which he used to provide for his family. He built his own homes. He worked very hard everyday in manual labor. On the other hand, being raised in Florida, the cultural values were different in the respect of not keeping traditions. They wanted to be different and on the leading edge of new things. These were not the same values I was use to being exposed to in Pennsylvania.

As an adult, I enjoy learning about different cultures and the values they place on individuals. It gives me an insight to what type of person they were in the past and hopefully what type of employee they will be in the future. But is cultural values a good tool to use when hiring?
Based on reading of The Role of Literacy in Individuals and Nations (Berryman, 1994), some cultures view experience and education in different ways. Emphasis on continuing education or continual heritage depends on your cultural. It could also depend on whom you know in the company that could help you get hired or promoted. For example, in the former USSR, only gifted students were given the opportunity to continue their education passed the eighth grade. Those whom didn't display exceptional intelligence either went into the military academy or continued a trade or skill needed in the economy. This is opposite of our own culture and the opportunities provided to everyone.

Ethical Dilemmas

As I stated in the beginning of the paper, I still have a difficult time trying to hire candidates for open positions at Compass Bank. We try to hold regular job fairs each month with the Maricopa Department of Economic Security. During these job fairs, I have the opportunity to speak to individuals from all walks of life. Most of them are middle to late age workers who lost their job because they couldn't keep up with changing technology. I spend about fifteen minutes with these individuals to see if their personal values and past work experience will be a fit for our organization. It is a very difficult ethical dilemma trying to look past maybe the way they are dressed or how many jobs they had in the past. But my personal values help guide me in those decisions. I usually will get a gut feeling that someone isn't telling me the truth or they won't fit into our organizational culture. It is hard to see these individuals sitting in front of me knowing they need a job to support their families. It tugs on my emotions but knowing I had the opportunity to let them know not to give up and share the same experiences I had when I was out of work helps them to continue their pursuit to work.

Conclusion

In conclusion, our personal, organizational and cultural values play a big part in our everyday lives. By trying to align your personal values with your organization values and not so much the cultural values, it provides a road map to help guide you with ethical decisions. Until someone writes a book that is 100% accurate on hiring the right person for the job, we will have to depend on our values.

How Long Will it Take to Get My Pharmacy Tech Certification?

As most people know, a health care related career is some of the most important work a person can do. Whether a doctor, a nurse, or a pharmacist or pharmacy technician, health care workers strive to keep people healthy. And what could be more important than that?

For those looking into a health care career, the position of Pharmacy Technician may appeal to you. Depending on the workplace, a Pharmacy Technician has a variety of duties and responsibilities, from counting out pills to corresponding with customers, and each duty is important. Even routine tasks, such as labeling bottles, can be of life-or-death importance-- as, of course, it's imperative that patients are given the correct medications in the correct doses.

The hourly earnings of a Pharmacy Technician also vary from workplace to workplace. Pharmacy Techs who earn the most generally work in hospitals, where they earn an average of hourly. The lowest-earning Pharmacy Technicians work in health or personal care stores, with about a .50 hourly wage. Obviously, where you choose to work as a Pharmacy Technician matters. And because hospitals and other highly specialized locations pay best, they also look for the best Technicians-- that is, Pharmacy Techs with certification.

How Long Will it Take to Get My Pharmacy Tech Certification?

Training to Be a Pharmacy Technician

While some smaller drug stores, etc., simply provide on-the-job training to untrained Pharmacy Technicians, most higher-paying locations look for Pharmacy Technicians with formal training and certification. To obtain this, most aspiring Pharmacy Techs attend online or classroom training courses. When choosing a Pharmacy Tech course, there are several things to keep in mind, such as length of course, depth of subject matter, and quality of the course (accreditation).

How Long Will it Take?

Most Pharmacy Technician training courses run from about six months to a year, depending on the course. In that time, you will learn the skills required to operate a pharmacy, follow correct pharmaceutical procedures, provide the correct drug dosages, and assist the pharmacist in administrative tasks. This course also helps to prepare you for your PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exam or ExCPT (Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians).

While there are very few current federal and state laws governing the need for Pharmacy Tech certification, having a PTCB or ExCPT certification is becoming the standard. Passing one or more of these examinations is of key importance.

What if I Need to Finish Faster?

If you don't have the six months to a year it takes to complete a Pharmacy Tech training course, there are several options available. As the certification is more important to potential employers than the formal training, you can choose to focus your time on studying for the test. You can do this either by studying the test materials, or taking one of the variety of short "crash course" cramming sessions offered by some schools. Most of these courses are from a few hours to several days, and are designed to give you all the information you need to pass you PTCB or ExCPT exams.

Does Information Technology Contribute to Organizational Performance in Today Organizations?

Information technology (IT) has significantly affected many organizations. The dramatic growth of the Internet and telecommunications technologies offers various benefits to organizations. For instance it allows many supporting operations to be outsourced to countries like India, Singapore, Philippines and the like.

Some IT products such as the Internet, Intranet, voice mail, e-mail, voice and video conferencing, groupware, Web services, and knowledge management can help organizations to provide faster, more efficient, and more complete services to the customers.

Before discussing whether information technology contributes to organizational performance, let us define organizational performance. Although many researchers have tried to provide a clear definition of performance, there is still no universal definition t. In general, organizational performance refers to how well an organization is doing relative to a predetermined set of standards.

Does Information Technology Contribute to Organizational Performance in Today Organizations?

For example, let us say, the company "ABC Logistics Inc." might define their performance in terms of quick response time, improve customer service, reduce error, improve data control, reduce paperwork, reduce manpower in terms of percentage as a goal for this year. If we want to see the role of IT in organizational performance for this company, we need to investigate how IT contributes to these performance indicators.

I should confess that I have not done any serious extensive research to explore how IT contributes to organizational performance. However I have looked at the IT enabled activities of 2010 Baldrige Winners to explore the role of IT in organizational performance. For those who are not familiar with Baldrige award, let me give a quick summary about the award. The U.S. government established the Baldrige Award in 1987 to promote awareness of quality excellence; to recognize quality achievements of U.S. companies, and to publicize successful quality strategies. The dual goals of the Baldrige criteria are to improve value to customers, which results in marketplace success, and to improve overall financial and company performance to meet the needs of shareholders, owners, and other stakeholders.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology(NIST) manages the award and it may be given each year in six categories such as manufacturing, service, small business, health care, education, and nonprofit organizations. The Award criteria classify performance into five major categories: customer evaluation of product and services, financial and market results, human resource results, supplier and partner performance, and organizational effectiveness results. Below shows the Information Technology enabled Activities of 2010 Baldrige Winners.

MEDRAD: This Company develops, markets, and services medical devices that diagnose and treat disease. In this company, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases being used to understand the voice of customers. They use extensive IT networks to understand the voice of processes. They use Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP) to manage their daily operations. Also, MEDRAD utilizes SharePoint extranet capability to establish collaboration forums with key partners and outside organizations, including suppliers and OEMs. Databases and IT tools being used for collecting and transferring workforce knowledge.

Freese and Nichols Inc: It is a water and wastewater engineering firm from Texas, US. Their majority of work was done by CAD and 3-D software. They use web-based software for project management, accounting and payroll functions; they use customer surveys to identify customer needs. They use databases to store all type of data including clients, staffs and projects. Employees working in multiple locations have laptops. Web, audio, and video conferencing, as well as chat and desktop sharing being used to support collaboration across all locations. Electronic newsletters being used to communicate organizational updates. Microsoft Outlook is being used for day-to-day communications.

Studer Group: It is a healthcare consulting firm in the US. They use public websites and emails as one of the approaches to obtain information about customer. Also, they use Portal, VPN access, online expense reporting systems for Information Sharing.

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS): They use electronic grade book, online assessment applications, and Web-based application for completion of the state Individualized Education (IEP) form; online student surveys and online Parent surveys to handle their day to day operations effectively. Similarly, a web-based system for human resource management and online access to MCPS curriculum guides being used help the students. Also, a Web-enabled solution being used for tracking and managing MCPS financial business functions

K & M Management: This company operates two fast-casual restaurant in Texas, US. Real-Time dashboard being used for decision making and process management. Likewise, Website, e-mail, and phone communication being used to gather guest comments.

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital: This hospital uses various IT products including Network attached and wireless computers, Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) telecommunication devices Wi-Fi connections, a secure internet portal and secure hardware based business-to-business virtual private network computers. Microsoft Online Services being used for email communications. Also, Decision support tools/resources including electronic scorecards on the GSAM G2G intranet, the AHC data warehouse (CHIS), the Advocate Learning Exchange (AleX), Nursing Compass, Revenue Cycle Compass and AMS are being used for decision making and process management. Likewise, electronic medical record (EMR) system, e-ICU® technology, Centralized telemetry system and Electronic bed board information system being used to help patients. Also External GSAM website being used to provide patients, families, and the community the ability to find a doctor, research an illness, register for various health programs and screenings.

If we look at the previous year awards recipients, we can see the IT role in organizational performance. For example, few awards recipients have used Online computer databases to find customer growth opportunities; paperless technology (EDI and electronic funds transfer) for customer communication; data warehouse to measure the performance of processes; appropriate software for SPC charts, process control charts, design of experiments, and Intranet; and VPN and Lotus Notes and e-mails for information sharing. Likewise, few recipients have used Real-Time dashboard and customized software for decision making and process management, Internet as communication medium and installed various software including payroll software; accounting software; production software to handle the processes effectively. Also, few used Dashboard/balanced scorecard for strategic planning, Internet/intranet for customer relations, and a centralized IT enterprise network (some of the components included EDI, paper, fax, intranet, e-mail, personal computer bedside workstations, and voice recognition) for better management and online training to employees.

By looking at the IT enabled activities of Baldrige Winners, I would say Information Technology contributes to Organizational Performance. An effective IT system and various IT-related products can provide the infrastructure to facilitate information flow between processes; between people inside and outside of an organization; help organizations to automate more processes; provide more flexibility and several other benefits which can be closed to link to organizational performance. In summary IT can act as an enabler to improve organizational performance.

How Technology Has Changed Accounting

Technology has laid its impression on almost every field today. There is hardly anything that has not been improved or enhanced by the technology. With all the improvement and development going, the need for getting better is still on. Accounting is not an exception when it comes to the alterations and changes produced by technology. So if you're wondering how technology has changed accounting then there are few points that you might feel worth reading.

Accounting is equally old as civilization. It existed from the time of the invention of abacus. After that, came the commercial revolution that introduced double-entry bookkeeping. Also, at that time, there were hardly any industries, factories and organizations that have to be looked after to calculate the profit, losses and other tax statements to keep the business running smoothly. In the early times, people were hardly aware of different formulas and applications applied in the field of accounting. But today accounting is commonly offered as a major study subject.

Although we can say that the changes and updates in the field of accounting have not been made quickly but slowly and steadily, the methods, techniques and principles of accounting have been modified and improved with time. As compared to the 20th century, today we have computers and laptops that completely eliminate the requirement of calculators, pencils and ledgers in just one fell swoop. Now it has become easier and simpler for the accountants to keep a record of the information so that they can eliminate the most frequent mistakes completely. Not only it has provided greater accountability and efficiency but has also transformed the accounting phase considerably.

How Technology Has Changed Accounting

Although everything has its own qualities and flaws and same can be said about the technology. The electronic information is subjected to sabotage and also several frauds can be made by processing the information. Such kind of illegal activities have opened a new area of forensic accounting. It helps in keeping a track on frauds.

The improvement in the field of accounting has not only assisted the organization and businesses but has also allowed people to maintain a track on their personal money. We are now provided with more facilities like online banking, and a variety of accounting software that helps us in calculating our taxes, automatic payment of various bills, etc. We should be perhaps thankful to the technology for bringing such an excellent change in the field of accountancy and providing common people with such a comfortable and easy to manage life as now we don't have to depend upon the calculator anymore!

Thus, we can see that technological improvements to accounting have entered every sphere of our lives - be it personal or professional. And it is with a lot of advantages for the end user - whether it is an accounting professional or a regular person like you and me.
